Our Credit Union started with very humble beginnings; a group of nine individuals came together to meet one simple need: making credit available to those with small means. Eighty-six years later, HFS still holds onto its same sense of ‘ohana with a deep desire to help those in our community to succeed and grow.   • Individuals meeting one of the qualifications below are eligible to become a member of the Credit Union.

    • Persons who live on the Island of Hawaii
    • Persons who regularly work, attend school, worship, perform volunteer service, or participate in associations headquartered on the Island of Hawaii
    • Persons participating in programs to alleviate poverty or distress which are located on the Island of Hawaii
    • Incorporated and unincorporated organizations located on the Island of Hawaii, or maintaining a facility on the Island of Hawaii
    • Spouse of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union
    • Employees of this credit union
    • Members of their immediate families* or households; and organizations of such persons.
  • To become a member of HFS, you must have at least a Savings Account. The following documents are needed to open your account:

    • Valid government issued picture identification
    • Social Security Number
    • Proof of physical address
    • $50 minimum deposit
